Writer, Educator, Editor

1-2-1 Mentoring

One-hour online session: £45

These hour-long 1-2-1 coaching sessions offer an opportunity to put yourself and your work at the centre of a conversation with an industry professional. They’re interactive and dynamic, so are invaluable whether you’re looking to:

  • Whip a story into shape

  • Generally improve your writing/process

  • Gain a better understanding of the publishing world

  • Do all of the above.

In your online meeting, you’ll be able to speak freely and confidentially about anything you feel may help with your writing. Beforehand, Peter can read a writing sample, should you wish to provide one (up to 2,000 words of prose or six pages of poetry). Alternatively, similar length notes/discussion topics can be sent to him.

People sometimes choose to talk about a story plot, characterisation, setting, theme etc. Others prefer more general discussions about writing methods, overcoming writer’s block, or anything else that’s troubling them. You may not even know what you want to talk about but just know you’d like to speak with someone in the industry, and that’s fine. Each session is different as you’re an individual with unique needs and wants. Together with Peter, you will explore these and discuss possible improvements to your process and/or writing, so that you leave with a clearer direction than you came with.

Whilst the exact format of each session will differ, you can expect to be asked in-depth questions about your aims and objectives. An open and honest discussion about applicable aspects of the craft will then help you develop your work now and in the future.
